Redstone Test Center and Team Corporation Share Presentation from ESTECH 2015

Last month at The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology’s (IEST) annual meeting, ESTECH, Dr. Michael T. Hale from Redstone Test Center and Joel Hoksbergen from Team Corporation, teamed up to deliver a presentation titled, “Design and Integration of a Large Capacity/General Purpose 6-DOF Servo-Hydraulic Excitation System.”

The presentation discusses the Large Capacity 6 Degree of Freedom (6-DOF) excitation system that was built by Team Corporation for RTC in 2013. Since then, the system has demonstrated the ability to simulate demanding multi-axis test environments with incredible accuracy. The system is a state-of-the art vibration test system, and ESTECH provided the perfect opportunity for Team Corporation and RTC to come together again since the system has been in use, and discuss its current application and performance. 

The presentation enlightens readers who are interested in the early design process, more detailed operating specifications, and the vibration testing capabilities this system has shown.

The large capacity 6-DOF system at the Redstone Test Center was designed to be functional for many applications, for payloads up to 5000 pounds and a footprint up to 8 feet wide and 12 feet long. It is excited with 5 vertical servo-actuators and 4 horizontal servo-actuators that work together to simultaneously control all 6-DOF of the test article.
