JOB TITLE:
Service Technician
TEAM Corporation sells a very specialized product for which there are a limited number of potential customers. Therefore, maintaining customer satisfaction is vitally important to getting repeat business and the long-term success of TEAM Corporation. The Service Technician is responsible for making sure that the customer is satisfied with the operation of his TEAM equipment, over the useful life of the equipment.
This entails several different tasks, as directed by the service manager. The first is to check and document the operation of new equipment before it is shipped to assure that it works correctly and meets the expected performance criteria. The second is to install the equipment at the customers’ facility, again verifying proper operation, and to instruct the customer in the proper operation of the equipment. The third task is to provide warranty service for the equipment.
The service technician must perform test & checkout of new and repaired systems prior to shipment. The results must be documented & filed in the appropriate file. Extent of testing will be determined through the service manager, engineering and/or marketing. He will also perform developmental testing as required.
The service technician will be available for installations of new systems and service calls out of state and out of country. The service manager will schedule these service calls.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. TEST & CHECKOUT
- Keeping Test & Checkout area clean and organized
- T & C of new and repaired systems prior to shipment
- Fill out the appropriate checkout sheets for each system component
- Help break down system for shipment (unhook/clean)
- May be asked to work extended hours as requested by the service manager
2. FIELD SERVICE
- Contact customer prior to installation to schedule your arrival on site.
- Contact TEAM reps prior to installations and service calls.
- Travel to and complete installations on site as scheduled.
- Must be capable of giving customer operational training on delivered system.
- Keep good records of expenses while on site and submit them to accounting upon return to TEAM.
- Try to generate sales leads while on site. Look for other applications for TEAM products and inform the sales department.
3. REPAIRS
- Respond to phone, fax or e-mail about problems, repairs, or any other service related items such as spare parts.
- Must secure PO numbers for disassembly and inspection of repairs that are in-house and do not already have a PO number.
- May be asked to prepare pricing and delivery schedule for repairs using estimated hrs from the shop and engineering.
- May be asked to contact customer with price and delivery date and secure a PO number to complete repair.
Track the status of all repairs and update the status board weekly.
4. RECORD KEEPING
- Must file test results form all applicable testing
- Must file repair paper work in repair file
- Must file service reports for all service calls with service manager.
- Trip reports for all service calls to be filed with the service manager.
PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:
The purpose of this position is to assist the service manager in maintaining a high level of efficiency in the service department. The purpose of this position is to see that there is a high degree of customer satisfaction in the installation and servicing of TEAM products. The most important aspects of this job are:
